Image result for trump vs hillaryVoting is a way for U.S citizens to elect a candidate who best represents their ideology and stance on certain topics such as environment, immigration, and taxes. This is the base foundation of our Democracy government.  If a candidate presents themselves in a certain way to a group of people who share similar interest they’ll be able to get more votes who support them. The most recent Presidential election seemed to be quite controversial and the most fighting to many that I know.

Image result for hillaryHillary clinton is the first female to become a president candidate in history. She was nominated by the democratic party. On her website she states her accomplishments on equality and justice. She is big on everyone having an equal opportunity not just privilege groups. She wants all to work as one to move forward. Which this image can show if we all come together our strength will be stronger.  This slogan can be seen throughout her campaign. This can also be an example of unity and equality for all. “Love Trumps Hate.” is a play on words by taking trumps has a double ontrundra. Which goes against trumps oppression on the color population actually those who are illegal immigrants.
Image result for donald trumpDonald Trump was the second candidate in the presidential election on the republican party. He was elected as our 45th U.S president. Although he won the presidency many were schook that he won. He’s ideology was to “make america great again” he thought by removing the illegal immigrant population  it would help boost the economy. To ensure that more immigrants won’t cross the southern border. He wants only the hard working class. That is rich of white males in the work force.

Image result for cnn vs foxMedia allows individual know what is going on in the political the political world. Depending on what source outlet an individual uses to receive updates on politics. Most news/social outlets have an biased opinion when it comes to politics, that can alter someone's beliefs which affects in who they decide to vote for in the political run. I chose to pick 2 big new outlets Fox and CNN. Fox are seen more of a republican outlet while CNN is seen more as a democrat outlet. I’ll looking at both and what they believe in when it comes to immigration and deportation.

Image result for Cnnhttp://insider.foxnews.com/2017/11/20/laura-ingraham-calls-congress-fund-border-wall-strengthen-immigration-lawsOn the 14th of february 2017 CNN posted an article titled “Being an immigrant in the United States today means …” which presents a video of two syrian immigrants that were granted refuge by the United States. They have assimilated to the american culture. They as well face a language barrier. While the war in syria progresses many people are let homeless and look asylum in foreign countries. In early april U.S. president trump refused asylum to any syrian refugees. This can be tied back to my current event because trump is against illegal immigration. He has came out on tv and talked his dislike on the latino/a population. I find this article to be convincing because they have a video of a syrian couple talking about their experience. As well they have multiple other stories and experiences. As CNN is known for their liberal point of view. This presents a bias because they talk about the positive income of the refugees/ immigrants. They state “The United States has a long and proud history as an immigrant nation. But those communities have been left paralyzed by fear following President Donald Trump's sweeping immigration reforms.” They strongly believe that immigrants positively help the economy and should be welcomed to U.S. This can be seen every one sided due to the fact that they do not talk about the downside of more immigrants that come here looking for a better future. As well can put us in danger of terrorist attacks because we might be holding one to many refugees/ immigrants. I feel the target group is people who lean more towards a democratic or liberal ideology and people who have an immigrant background or who are immigrant themselves. This article spreads awareness of the hardships on foreign by giving background information on the syrian war. This creates sympathy for the reader by knowing how people fled to other neighboring country and facing operation.

Image result for fox newhttp://insider.foxnews.com/2017/11/20/laura-ingraham-calls-congress-fund-border-wall-strengthen-immigration-laws In this Fox New acticle they mention that a bored potoral office was killed but immigrants trying to cross from the southern border. The officer was on duty with his partner. They seem to believe that he was ambushed and killed by rocks, his partner was not killed. Ingraham places the blame on congress for not listening to trump and building the wall on the southern border. She also explains how drugs and thugs are coming coming from that border but all that illegal activity does not just happen on the border but as well 18 miles inland. This poses danger to U.S citizens and also people who properly migrate here. A little more than a decade 37 or so border patrol agents have died on the line for work. Ingraham believe congress could have stopped this by listening to the president america has elected. They asked for the families to have closure and the culprits to be comprehended. Ingraham calls the people who cross the southern border illegally has thugs and criminals. The illegal immigrants do more harm than good. This article is relevant to my current event project because it shows how some american think the worst of the immigrant population. I would find this article convincing if they did not incriminate all immigrants as thugs, drug dealers, or criminals. I find if they presented a video with the fallen offices partner which explains what happened that night it would give more background information. A republican or conservative point of view is presented. Some of their ideology is that immigrants do not help the economy. They seem to be one sided because they believe and trust in presidents trumps souther border wall. They want to keep out illegal immigrants down in the border. They seem to be close minded. They say they were ambushed and accepted but not proof or evidence was presented which makes the article one sided. Their ignorances is presented and it can be clearly seen because they do not seem to complement the immigrants in any way. This source is probably targeted at middle age white people who have republican/ conservatives ideology. This might influences young readers because they are being exposed to the dislike and hatred targeted to the immigrant population because they are only presenting the bad action immigrants have done. By only presenting one side opinions they shape younger people's minds

Image result for us military

I choose to pick two interest groups who agree and disagree with miliary usage, more specific the U.S military. "Veterans For Peace" is an  group who fought against the expansion of a U.S military  base. On the other hand "Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs" (JINSA) is a group who favors the U.S military force.
The soul purpose of "Veterans For Peace" is not to fight of superpowers but to actually inform the public of the cost of war, not just financially but also emotionally. One thing they have achieved that I like they were able to stop the expansion of a U.S military base. By doing this, they showed that coming together can stop the world's most powerful government and military. "To restrain our governments from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations
" This quote is straight from their statement of purpose. VFP goes against the oppression of foreign militaries. They want to be able to stand up and show peace. They show a bias against war and violence around the world . They want world peace and to abolish war. Some limitations that are can be seen are the amount of people they have and how they are spread around the world which makes it hard to come together.

Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs otherwise know as JINSA have a goal to get other countries who think alike to the U.S.A with a democracy. Mainly JINSA talked about the relationship between Israel and the U.S. That is a huge party of their group. One could say a milestone for JINSA. They also pride themselves because the U.S. is one of the strongest militaries if not the strongest in the world. "Finally JINSA's mission is to provide support for a strong and robust and effective U.S. military to implement U.S. national security policy when called upon" (1:20-1:34). JINSA shows a bias to the U.S and Israel's relationship that started at the end of ww2. They favor a strong democracy government who opposes the rise of communism. Some limitations seen are they do not seem to talk about other countries. They mainly talk about the middle east and Israel. It seems this relationship is what they value the most. They do not seem to care about other relationships.

Image result for good and bad military This two interest groups have some differences like their stance on the U.S. military. On one hand they dislike the aggression of the U.S military and their size. On the other hand they like the huge number of soldiers and the government. Both share the same thought that a bigger group of people the stronger you will be. One artifacts promote the spread of the U.S. military and the other talked about stopping the expansion of U.S military in foreign nations

Image result for political parties

I choose to talk about Democrats and their ideologies. Democrats want to give back to the community and have a positive impact in their lives. They want to fight for equal pay wages between men and women, LGBT rights, and believe in immigration according to https://www.democrats.org. I feel they cover a good amount of the majority by their non traditional views. They are more open minded. Some major differences between democrats and republicans are gun control, same sex marriage and immigration. The reason I picked to talk about democrats is because they way they view the world are similar to mine. Also I like their new school non traditional views.

This artifact come from Youtube from a channel called “NowThis World”. I find this artifact reliable because it cites its sources in the description box. I find this artifacts properly represents the democrat party by explaining their history and current views on certain topics such as unemployment, same sex marriage, and health care. This artifact shows how democrats started to be more intervene in individuals lives. They became the party of the people. This might influence the public by showing the “positives” of this party. By doing this the viewer gets a bias opinion of the democrat party. One thing that isn’t mentioned in the video is pushing away the white work class. The atlantic states “The fear among some is that this polychromatic Democratic Party, open to all races, both genders, all sexual orientations, welcoming to immigrants... enough room for the working-class white voters who anchored the party from Andrew Jackson through Lyndon Johnson.”

Zoe Lofgren is affiliated with the democrat party ever since the 1995. She has lived in the Bay Area her whole life. She went to stanford on a scholarship and earned a degree in political sciences. On the official page of Lofgren we can see how her parties views on immigration which is a sensitive and controversial topic. Her stance on immigration is she supports it. She supports the DREAM ACT which lets immigrant people get a form of legal status. A clear bias is her grandparents are immigrants themselves. She talks about obama and his views on immigration sharing the same party background as democrats.  She presents her stance by doing speeches and stating her opinion on her website. Some limitation to her stance is she does not talk about downside of having more undocumented immigrants come to the U.S.

Political Ideology

I'm an open minded individual who is a liberal. I believe that we should have strong, strict laws to protect the environment. I also believe that immigrants help our country instead of hurting it. This country was created by european immigrants.
On the Pew Questionnaire I got SL, which is solid liberal. I believe this suits me because I believe with what the liberals believe in such as less involvement in personal life from the government, open to pro-choice, open to homesexual mariage. Liberals tend to lean more towards democracy. Some important topics to me is protecting and making stricter environments even though it cost more it will be worth it. I also believe that if the US government does not intervene situations would be worst then we set them out to be. There are many key points that liberals point out and believe in.
